There is a small list of things we as artists can do to make art a pleasure, but from time to time we forget a few of them. I was reminded of them by my granddaughter just the other day.
REMEMBER
Remember that new box of crayons? A clean sheet of paper? And that it didn't matter if you had an idea of what to create. You just grabbed the color that caught your eye and made a mark, the joy of that color on paper is all that mattered.
TAKING TIME FOR JUST YOU TO DO ART
I know this color "BLUE" .... Hey I'm coloring....
please you will mess um up..... gosh everyone wants in on this...
Organizing OK all the caps off...... line up at your right....
No better on the left..... Boy that feels good when you get your supplies just right!
FINDING A SPOT TO KEEP ALL YOUR SUPPLIESAfter you finish your piece put everything away. Why can't I keep it in here?
Careful Dad I didn't put the lids on all of them.
DON'T CRITICIZE YOURSELF
I'm going to the gallery to see some real art.
Let yourself be proud of your work.

Would you tell that little girl her work was horrid? Tell yourself what you would tell her.

She now knows the feeling of getting markers taken away. She hardly lived through the day with out them. I see her enjoying art all through her life as this is one of her favorite pass times.
Loved seeing Savannah create her colorful abstract art...and the picture of her walking off in high heels after is a keeper, lol
Great message, we do tend to be hard to ourselves. she's too cute.

A budding artist...following in Grandma's footsteps. So cute!
Tory, thanks for reminding us to play and see the world afresh.
